Meet our leaders

Tony Lopykinski, Founder & Managing Principal

Tony is a 20+ year leader within the data analytics, business intelligence, and data warehousing space. Since founding Mavent Analytics in 2008, Tony has helped guide dozens of small mid-markets to Fortune 500 companies in achieving greater results and value from their data analytics investment. As a trusted partner, he has advised Mavent’s clients in maturing all aspects of their analytics program including data analytics strategy, data architecture, technology selection, organization development and project execution. Prior to Mavent, he served as the Global Analytics and BI Director for McDonald’s Corporation, where he led the development and execution of the company’s enterprise business intelligence and analytics strategy and BI Competency Center.

Additionally, Tony founded the Analytics Leaders Network (ALN), a highly-engaged community of analytics practitioners and leaders who share best practices and thought leadership while growing their professional networks. Tony previously served as an instructor with The Data Warehouse Institute (TDWI), where he delivered analytics, business intelligence and data warehousing educational courses and served as a judge of TDWI’s Best Practice Awards. Tony earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance with honors from Northern Illinois University and a Graduate Certificate in Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence from Loyola University’s Graduate School of Business.

Mike Alaimo, Partner & Talent Services Leader

Mike leads talent acquisition services for Mavent Analytics. He is responsible for proactively building and nurturing our expansive and diverse talent pools of data analytics, data science, and data management professionals.  A SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), Mike specializes in leading complex hiring initiatives that result in greater efficiency and the highest levels of satisfaction and retention.  

Mike is an expert at understanding the “suitability” of a candidate based on technical and cultural nuances, driving successful placements that mutually benefit clients and candidates.  He is passionate about making the perfect match and coaching people to be their best.  Mike graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management – HR.

Inspired by a pinnacle moment

As a BI and data analytics leader for one of the world’s most iconic food retailers, McDonalds Corp., Tony Lopykinski led the strategy and roll-out of the company’s first enterprise data warehouse (EDW). This massive effort involved defining a three-year business roadmap that detailed the information architecture, technical infrastructure, and organization resource requirements for success. Tony grew his team from six to 60 and McDonald’s new EDW enabled new standard analytics and business intelligence capabilities that reached 30,000 retail locations and corporate personnel. 

This monumental career achievement inspired a vision Tony couldn’t ignore: to make analytics achievable for any enterprise, wherever they were in their data maturity. After 12 years at McDonald’s, in 2008 Tony founded Mavent Analytics (formerly Maven Advisors) to bring his vision to life. He discovered a particularly high demand among midmarket companies for trusted analytics leadership – not only for improving data and insight, but also for managing the organizational change needed to ensure lasting impact. 

Eventually, clients turned to Tony and his analytics consultants to help grow their internal teams. This began Mavent Analytics’ natural evolution to vetting and filling key data and analytics positions. Tony partnered with Mike Alaimo, an experienced talent acquisition leader with a stellar track record of outsourced recruiting, to launch Mavent’s Talent Planning & Acquisition services practice, closing the value loop for clients. Today, Mavent drives business transformation with analytics excellence across an organization’s entire analytics journey. From planning to people, Mavent has become the go-to data, analytics and talent consulting partner to create lasting business value and impact.
